CAITHNESS FIELD CLUB PROGRAMME SUMMER 2002
Tuesday 9 April - The A.G.M. at the Brown Trout Watten 7.30pm. As usual there will be a small charge for refreshments
Sunday 14 April - A Fossil Hunt at Achanarras. Jack Saxon will lead. Leave Thurso and Wick Railway stations at 10.00am. Drive independently to the car park situated on the Achanarras road along a track to the left.
Sunday 21 April - Coach trip to Strath Brora. The rough plan is a walk in the grounds of Dunrobin Castle, lunch (soup and sandwiches) at the Sutherland Arms Golspie. Then we drive to Rogart, on to Strath Brora eventually returning to the A9. A stop at Laidhay for refreshments on the way back will be included. The coach leaves Thurso 9.00am and Wick 9.30am. Book with Marion Owen on 01847 892999. The cost will be similar to our former coach trips.
Sunday 26 May - A walk to Wag of Forse leaving Wick and Thurso 9.30am meeting at the Clan Gunn car park 10.15am
Sunday 9 June - Walk Torriesdale to Bettyhill, leave Wick 9.30am meeting Thurso 10.00am. We park cars at the west side of the footbridge leaving two by the metal bridge near lnvernaver. An interesting walk for the botanist and the archaeologist.
Sunday 28 July - A walk along Armadale Burn. Leave Wick 9.00am meet Thurso 9.30am. As well as antiquities, flowers and plants should be in full bloom.
SATURDAY 24 August - It is the 125"' anniversary of S.P.A.B. (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings). Lyn Leet is organising a walk to see some of our lovely old churches. We meet in Sir George's Square Thurso opposite new St Peter's Church at 2.00pm.
Sunday 1 September - A walk, Dirlot to Westerdale. Leaving Wick 9.30am meeting Thurso 10am.
APART FROM THE OUTING TO ACHANARRAS QUARRY, WALKS WIL LBE LED BY GORDON WILSON AND JACK BARNABY.
NON-MEMBERS ARE WELCOME. WE MEET AT RAILWAY STATION CAR PARKS IN WICK AND THURSO. CAR SEATS ARE USUALLY AVAILABLE. JUST TURN UP WITH BOOTS AND SANDWICHES. EVENTS ARE FREE UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. SORRY, WE DO NOT ALLOW DOGS.
