Neil Gunn  - A New Readers Group

This section has been set up to let everyone know that it is proposed to set up a new Neil Gunn readers group.  Part of the idea is that members of the group will read the books at the same time and then have get-togethers to discuss the them.

The group might start in 2003 and anyone who is interested in getting information should contact Nan Bethune at the Dunbeath Heritage
Email info@dunbeath-heritage.org.uk

Dunbeath Heritage Centre already holds the material books information etc collected by the Neil Gunn Society that ceased a few years ago.

A recent weekend including a walk to look at some Neil Gunn countryside that appears in some of his books was very successful.

The Neil M Gunn Centenary Lecture by Joy Hendry
Joy Hendry gave us permission to publish her essay upon which her centenary lecture was base about two years ago but we never seem to have found time to get it on the web site.  With another weekend of Neil Gunn being celebrated at Dunbeath this weekend we thought it was about time to get this item on the site. Joy Hendry delivered her lecture over 20 years ago for the centenary of Neil Gunn's birth in 1891.
Joy Hendry is a writer and edits the well known Scottish literary magazine "Chapman"  Chapman publishes small runs of Scottish writers and includes drama and poetry and is often outspoken.  A quarterly magazine an annual subscription will bring you a few surprises every three months.
