| THE FACTS FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 1999 the Government is introducing a new right tp paid time off for study or training for young people who:
You can study or train for a nationally recognised qualification which helps you improve your employment prospects (with your current or a future employer). You can study or train where you work, at college, with another employer or training provider or elsewhere.
How much time off work can i have to study or train? The amount will vary depending on the requirements of your study or training and the circumstances of your employer.

Will I be paid for any time i spend away from my job? Yes. You will be entitled to your usual hourly rate. |
Does it matter if I work for a small employer? No. You have the right to paid time off whatever the size of your employer's business. |
What if my employer refuses? You can complain to an employment tribunal. You can get advice from your local Citizen's Advice Bureau, Law Centre, a solicitor or your trade union. |
