Caithness & Sutherland Women's Aid
A Safe Place To Stay

Our refuge has three self contained flats (including one disabled flat) which can accommodate women and their children and two bedsits for single women.

While you are with us we keep your whereabouts confidential and should you need to leave the area we may be able to find you a space in another refuge.

Our workers can give you information about housing, money, solicitors, schools, nurseries, doctors and can help you to make appointments with the people you need to see. They are always willing to give support if you need someone to talk to.

If you come to live in the refuge you will also have the support and friendship of the other women living there.

Helpful Ideas If You Decide To Leave

Think about how you will leave.

Get help from family, friends or neighbours if you need to.

Try to have some money for phone calls, bus or train fares or a taxi.

You will need documents such as original birth certificates, proof of ID, National Insurance Numbers and Benefit Awards. Try to keep these together so that you can bring them with you.

You may have to leave quickly so have some clothes ready for you and the children. They may also want to bring a favourite toy or blanket.

Try to keep a key to your house.

Try to remember our phone number
