SOCIAL CLUBS

The Thurso Branch of the RBLS was formed in 1923 and has remained, since then a progressive and active Branch.

The first Clubrooms were built in 1948 and the building was a wartime wooden hut donated by the late Sir Archibald Sinclair of Thurso Castle, grandfather of our local MP John Thurso and remained open until the mid fifties when it closed.

The present Branch Clubrooms were built during the early sixties and opened in 1967. A large extension was built and opened in 1976. It stands adjacent to and has magnificent views of Thurso Bridge and our river, famous for its salmon fishing.

Today the Thurso Legion Clubrooms, the most northerly on the British mainland, is one of the top Clubs in Scotland, boasting of first class comfort, cleanliness and a friendly atmosphere.

At the moment first class meals are served on Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes. We also have a large display of service memorabilia, first class snooker room with two tables, darts room, large function room, three bars and facilities for private functions for use by Legion members and guests when required.

We also have an Angling section where members can join and visiting members and their guests can also have the use of seven boats on various lochs throughout Caithness.

We extend a warm invitation to all Legion members and their guests, whether British or from overseas, to visit our clubrooms when in Caithness.
