Village Halls

Keiss Hall

We are currently trying to build a new hall and we brought in the assistance of a consultant who specialises in obtaining funding through bodies such as CASE, Europe, Scottish Office etc. The estimated cost to build the new hall is approximately  £425K. This new hall would have facilities for bowling, rifle range, football changerooms, meeting rooms and a consulting room. In order to achieve this, we of course have to raise funds ourselves, so we are holding a Mini Gala on the 15th Aug to 17th Aug.

It has been several years since Keiss had a Gala, this was for a variety of reasons but the main one would probably be the condition of the Hall.  We are also looking at bringing back the Wester Raft R ace, the trophy was last won in 1983, but that will be next years project. Naturally we are trying to revive the community spirit in Keiss  and we need the locals to help us.

The current committee is strong and for the first time in years we have a committee of 12 with a broad range of ages on it, though we could do with
some between the age of 14-21 so that age group can have a voice in the way the hall is run and what events they would like to see in the village.

The Gala programme is roughly as follows ( as with all events the programme is subject to change)
Friday 15th Aug
Crowning of Gala Queen
Keiss FC V Keiss Veterans
Hall open for refreshments.

Saturday 16th
Its a knockout  @12:00, Face Painting, Highland Dancers, Childrens Fancy
Dress, Bungee rope ( Not the jumping type), Argocat trips, Pet Show, TEAM
MCC bike trips, Target Golf, Stocks for local celebreties, Childrens races, barbecue, bar.
Bar will remain open all day and then there will be a dance at night with
Communique. £3 for adults and £1.50 for children as we hope to run the
dance as a family dance.

Sunday 17th Aug
Boat Fishing competition Keiss Harbour @ 12:00
Scavenger hunt for children 3-4 pm
Treasure Hunt  2-4pm
