There was a Baptist Church in Thurso from 1805 to about 1850; but the present congregation started as a house meeting in the early 1980's.  They met in a school for several years and moved into the present premises in 1994.

Scarfskerry is a traditional crofting village on the shores of the Pentland firth about 13 miles east of Thurso.  Scarfskerry Baptist Chapel which is the most northerly church building on the British mainland, was erected in 1867 and was the scene of a notable revival the following year.  The baptist congregation actually dates back to around 1815 and though small still carries on a work in the area today.

Visitors are always welcome to join with us at both churches.
