Volunteering Highland

Volunteers of the Future
Despite windy conditions on Sunday Milton Residents Association had an excellent response to its environmental project entitled 'Safer Play'.  The Association are keen to maintain and develop the area which is popular with the children of the village.

In an attempt to develop a sense of pride for their community each child was given a tree to plant and will have responsibility for its maintenance. The trees, together with a selection of logs were kindly donated by the forestry commission for the associations use.

The project was sponsored by Community Service Volunteers [CSV] Action Earth with the help of Catherine Patterson development officer for Volunteering Highland.  Funding from CSV enabled the group to purchase additional plants, materials and lighting which will improve the environment and make the area safer. Local businesses generously offered materials at cost price, and the association would like to thank them for their continued support.

Milton Residents Association are an example of community participation at its best. They liaise with organisations and businesses, develop environmental awareness and encourage volunteering and community partnership.

Mr Sandy Coghill the oldest participant who will be 93 this year.  He has been an active volunteer for many years.
