The new Dounreay Exhibition Centre might be built away from the Dounreay complex.  Professor Victor Middleton who has advised many tourist attractions is to make a report  following his review of possible sites in the county.

The existing centre is housed in the old Air Traffic Control Tower and has been there for over 40 years.  The new centre is expected to cost in the region of £2 million.  The possibilities for partnerships with other organisations who need display facilities are also being considered.

The new centre will have sections on the history of Dounreay and a section covering the decommissioning work to be carried out over possibly the next 50 years.
