WARNING RE BOGUS WORKMEN POSING AS ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS/WORKMEN
Police in Caithness are warning members of the public to be aware of bogus workmen working in the Thurso area.

About 13:10h on Monday 9 December 2002, the two after described males entered the Careers Scotland office on Olrig Street, Thurso and stated they were from Scottish Hyrdo Electric and asked to inspect the office vacuum cleaner.  They were asked for identification by staff but decided to leave the premises without producing any.

A check with Scottish Hydro Electric revealed that they had not deployed any of their workers in the area.  Commercial premises owners and members of the public are reminded that bona fide service engineers are all issued with identification and entry to any premises should be denied until proof of identification has been established.

The males in the above incident are described as:
6' tall, dark short hair, wearing dark blue trousers and jacket.
5' tall, stocky build, short grey hair, wearing blue jumper and trousers and
matching body warmer.

It is unknown what accents both males have.

Anyone with any information on the possible identity of the males is asked to contact police in Thurso on 01847 893222.
