Fun Day At Pulteneytown People's Project - Saturday 3 July 2004
PULTENEYTOWN People's Project held its annual fun day on Saturday afternoon - and it all went thunderfully well after earlier fears that the event might be a washout. Torrential rain and a few rumbles of thunder around lunchtime threatened to undermine the efforts of the community regeneration group but the PPP staff and volunteers decided to carry on as planned. They were rewarded with much-improved weather by mid-afternoon and, as the sun came out, the crowds came along to boost the takings at PPP's main fundraiser for the year.

The high school rock band How Di Vano played throughout the afternoon and other attractions included Elise Lyall's dancers and Alison Lyall's majorettes. Business was brisk at the barbecue and various other stalls. Face-painting, a trampoline and team games added to the fun.

A junior five-a-side football tournament proved very popular and the winning team comprised Ryan Mackay, Mark Nicolson, Ryan Banks, Ross Macleod and Jamie Cormack. The two man-of-the-match awards went to Scott Cormack and Derek Rosie.

The total amount raised will be announced at a later date.
