Thurso  c1877

The Show is to raise funds for Alzheimers Scotland, who meet up in the Couthie Corner in Bayview House, Olrig st, Thurso ( 01847 892152).

The show will be different than normal, for the first time I'll be showing some rare, old footage of Thurso.

The film was recorded in 1956 and runs for around 30 minutes, it features some Thurso folk being asked about their views and opinions of the newly built atomic site at Dounreay, and how they think this will change the town.

John Sinclair, who at the time was the Provost of the town is interviewed on the Primula WK 97, Hettie Munro is featured in her antiques shop "The Ships Wheel", William Wilson is interviewed in his garage, and Donald Grant the former Rector of Miller Academy are all included in the film.

Views of the town include Shore Street, The Harbour, The Cowgate,  Sir Georges Street, Scrabster, and the Auction Mart.
