Behavioural Patterns of Drug Users In Highland

Seventeen of the 25 currently receiving methadone reported that they had been prescribed methadone previously. Including present treatment, those 17 had received methadone an average of 4.7 times. Fifteen also reported having treatment with other drugs and five had attended a residential rehabilitation. One did not disclose any information about past treatment.

Of the 11 not presently receiving methadone treatment, 10 had received counselling, 11 had treatment with other drugs on an average of 2.6 times, 7 had received treatment with methadone on an average of 3.2 occasions. Two had been to a residential rehabilitation unit.

Of the twenty-nine presently out of treatment but having received treatment in the past. Thirteen had received methadone treatment once and 6 had received methadone two or more times. Six never had received treatment with other drugs and 3 had never had received any form of treatment with drugs. Six had previously attended a residential rehabilitation unit.
