Children's Hearings System - Recruiting New Volunteers Until End of September
This year the recruitment campaign for candidates interested in volunteering as Children's Panel members will take place from Monday 26 August for five weeks.  A few Local Authorities are not recruiting this year, East Dunbartonshire, Orkney and Shetland, but the local Clerk to the CPAC will be happy to send you information and take your details for future campaigns.

You do not need special qualifications to sit on the Highland or any other area Children's Panel.  Panel members are trained to see the child as well as the problem.  Ordinary men and women can do an extraordinary thing -make a difference to a child's life.  What you need is the ability to listen before helping children.  Scotland's unique system puts the child first.  If you could devote some time to help local children you could sit on the Children's Panel

Following selection and the successful completion of pre-service training in the new year, new panel members will take up appointment in the May following recruitment and will thereafter be available to serve at hearings. Appointments are normally made for 3 years in the first instance.

Check out the Children's Hearing System Recruitment Web Page for more details.

The recruitment process is described in more detail in the 'Background' section of the website.
