Communication Support Service for
Highland Deaf Community
www.deafsociety.org

The Deaf Society writes about a new service in Highland. This service provides, free of charge, a Sign Language Interpreting service for all NHS and Highland Council appointments, throughout Highland.

The Deaf Society has been commissioned by NHS Highland and Highland Council to develop a vital Communication Support Service in Highland. This service facilitates communication between deaf and hearing people, enabling deaf people to be as independent as possible.

For many deaf people communication is a major barrier to participating in everyday life. The Deaf Society Communication Support Service provides an impartial, professional and confidential service, enabling access to vital health and council appointments.

We can provide communication support in the following areas

Health (eg. hospital/GP, dentist)

Social Work (eg. case conferences, MHOs)

Housing (eg. allocation interview)

Employment (eg. Highland Council & NHS Highland interviews, training)

To book an appointment you can use any of the contact details listed below. Appointments can be made now.
