Peter Says - " Wick was a big herring town in 1900.  Lots of herring were salted but some were smoked and made into kippers.  this picture shows my Great, great Granny, Rachel Mackay.  She is the fifth girl from the left in the front.  She has some kippers in her hand.  This picture is important because it shows that the herring industry needed lots of women to process the fish.
