UK Government
Bopcris
The British Official Publications Collaborative Reader Information Service. You can use this web site to search and browse information from British Official Publications over the period 1688-1995. You can also read abstracts, and view detailed consistent subject indexing, of key documents. You can then read the digitised full-text version of a limited number of these documents.  BOPCRIS currently contains 23,279 references to key British Official Publications 1688-1995.
You can access this information two ways: browsing and searching. The browsing page is available at http://www.bopcris.ac.uk/browse/subjindex.html  . Here you can browse by subject (national finance, transport, social security, etc.) or date (currently the years 1984-1995 are not browsable by date.) Pick a date or subject, "drill down" through the subcategories, and you'll come to a page with a title, session date, and link to full record. The full record contains the title, the Ford list title, abstract (the abstracts I saw were huge), series, session, bound set volume, paper/bill number, and Ford list keywords. You can do a basic keyword search from the front page or do a fuller search at
 http://www.bopcris.ac.uk/cgi-bin/swish-cgi.pl?style=long
This search allows you to narrow your search by field (abstract, Ford keywords, etc.), date, and series (all, sessional papers, or non-Parliamentary). A full record search for "sugar" found 119 results, starting February 28, 1694 and going through 1994-1995. People interested in American history might want to check out the entry from December 8, 1775 -- "Report of debate on the bill to outlaw all trade and other communications with the Thirteen Colonies ... in light of their struggle for independence. "
