Job Seekers Allowance
Until 1st January 2003, Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) claimants who started voluntary activities were allowed 48 hours' notice before they had to take up an offer of a job.   Following amendments to the JSA Regulations approved by Parliament in December, volunteers will now be allowed a full week's notice before being required to re-arrange or give up their voluntary activity in order to take up paid employment.  They must still be available for an interview at 48 hours' notice. The change came into effect on 1 January 2003.
