Donation to Caithness Kidney Dialysis Support Group

Caithness Kidney Dialysis Support Group

This group has recently been formed to raise funds to support the opening of a Renal Unit in Caithness. At present dialysis patients have to make the round trip to Inverness three times a week. This is particularly harrowing in winter.

Two founder members of the group, Robert Doull and Carolyne Poulton, recently received a donation of £400.00 from Isabelle Thurley. This sum represents the profits remaining, after expenses, of the recent 49-51 year-olds reunion which Isabelle helped Janis Patterson to organise in the MacKays Hotel in August this year. The reunion was a great success, and it is hoped that the Caithness Kidney Dialysis Support Group will be equally successfull in raising money for what is an excellent cause.

In addition to the above donation the group has been promised funds from various sources, including some of the proceeds of the Wick Players Christmas Pantomine raffle; the proceeds from a Charity Dance to be held in the Royal British Legion in Thurso on Friday 9th November (organised by the Caithness Lupus Group); and a donation from the Dounreay Challenge Cup fun Day which was recently held in Thurso. John Thurso MP has also voiced his support of the new Group.

Look out for more news of this group! In the meantime any offers of support should be made to Carolyne or Robert.
