Halkirk Young Farmers held their Open Stockjudging and Slave Auction last night in Thurso Auction Market.

The Stockjudging results were as follows:-
Novice – 1st Grant Fraser
Junior – 1st David Wilson
2nd Claire MacBean
3rd James Barnetson

Best Young Farmer - 1st David Wilson
2nd Claire MacBean
3rd James Barnetson

Ladies – 1st Catherine Murray
2nd Claire Macbean
3rd Ellen Falconer

Open & Overall Winner – 1st Will Cormack
2nd eq Donald Swanson & David Wilson

Judges for the evening were Mr Robert Coghill, Mrs Lisa Kennedy and Ms Fiona Low
Stock Donors were Messrs Miller, Aimster, Messrs Oag, Brims Mains, Messrs Sutherland Sibmister and Messrs Campbell, Mid Calder

Guess the weight of the Guinea Pigs – 1st Kathleen Campbell
Guinea pigs supplied by the Manson Family, Smithy Cottage, Gillock.

The Slave Auction raised £1025
There were 19 slaves
Top priced slave was £80
Average per slave was £54

The night was a great success and it was great to see such a good turnout taking part in the Stockjudging, with around 50 taking part.

Kenneth Sutherland Takes Top Award
Halkirk Young Farmers Club held their Summer Stockjudging at the following venues–
Messrs Manson , Skaill, Messrs Ronaldson, Westerseat and Messrs Gunn, Carsgoe.
Official Judges over the two evenings were Mr Johnnie Campbell,  Mr Charles Angus and Mr Don Miller.
The results were as follows:-
1st Kenneth Sutherland                  Juniors: 1st Alan Gow
2nd Carolyn Coghill                                   2nd Darryn Sutherland
3rd Alan Gow                                           3rd John Anderson
