My late father, Fl Lt JE " Bart" Bartholomew, RAAF was based in Wick from November 1943 to February 1945 in Coastal Command, ASR Squadrons 281 and 279.

The aircraft they are in front of was lost after running into the sea off the runway at Sumburgh in Shetland after making an emergency landing on 14/09/1944.  All the crew survived
