Consumer Price Inflation, UK - June 2024 - 2.0% in the 12 months to June 2024, the same rate as the 12 months to May 2024

The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 2.8% in the 12 months to June 2024, the same rate as the 12 months to May 2024. On a monthly basis, CPIH rose by 0.2% in June 2024, the same rate as in June 2023.

Scottish Social Attitudes Survey 2023 - Support for redistribution of wealth and growing economy

Half of people in Scotland (50%) believe the Scottish Government should redistribute income from the better-off to those who are less well-off. This year's Scottish Social Attitudes Survey - which measures the public’s views on a range of issues - shows just under a quarter of people (23%) disagreed with the redistribution of wealth, an attitude that has remained consistent since 2005.

The Highland Alcohol and Drugs Partnership is encouraging people to download an app which aims to help reduce drug-related harm in Highland. The Highland Overdose Prevention and Engagement (HOPE) app has been downloaded by over 1,300 people since it was launched three years ago.

Clean Air Day is the UK's largest campaign dedicated to raising awareness on air pollution and the focus this year is on educating the public about air quality and encouraging active travel and alternative transport options. To celebrate the day, the Council's Environmental Health Team are organising an event at Falcon Square, Inverness which will be a good opportunity to raise awareness on air pollution and share knowledge on sustainable travel options.

A836 Naver Bridge Replacement Works Confirmed

The Highland Council have awarded the Naver Bridge replacement contract to Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd with set-up works commencing soon after 1 August 2024. The project is required to replace the aged single track wrought iron plate girder bridge over the River Naver South of Bettyhill.
