Wick RBLS Pipe Band has been gifted an antique Seaforth Highlanders drum on permanent loan from the Clan Sinclair. Clan member Ian Sinclair of Noss Head was attending an auction in Edinburgh to buy books when the drum came up for sale. Ian said It just seemed right that the drum should be returned to the regiments home area and I knew straight away that the ideal place for it would be the Pipe Band Hall in Wick.Ian attended a recent show in the Wick Pipe Band Hall and handed the drum over to fellow clan member and bass drummer in the band, George Sinclair. Band Secretary, John Bogle commented The pipe band is delighted to accept this historic drum on loan from Clan Sinclair, we will put it on display in the Pipe Band Hall alongwith other antique band drums and artefacts. Wick Pipe Band enjoys a good relationship with Clan Sinclair having played at several clan gatherings over the years. I was particularly interested in the potted regimental history which Ian handed over with the drum because it listed the Victoria Cross winners and and the first named was Lt A.C. Bogle. The drum is decorated with the regimental coat of arms and lists the various battle honours won by the regiment.
